EngSiteTools values your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights as a user. We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and other applicable privacy laws. This policy applies to EngSiteTools and its products. Our product TrenchCalc™ has its own dedicated privacy policy, available at engsitetools.com/trenchcalc/privacy.html. Each of our other apps also has its own privacy policy, listed on our Privacy & legal page.
What Is Personal Data?
At EngSiteTools, we consider personal data to be any information that relates to or can identify an individual. This includes direct identifiers (like your name and email) and indirect identifiers that could reasonably be used to identify you.
Data Collection
We collect the following types of data through our website:
- Email: When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message. This information is used to respond to your inquiries.
- Server Log Data: When you visit our website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may automatically record standard technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) to keep the website secure and running.
- Cookie Data: Our website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, as described in the Cookies section below.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- Responding to inquiries: To answer questions you send us by email
- Website operation and security: To keep our website secure and working properly
- Communications: To send you information you've requested
- Legal compliance: To meet our legal obligations
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example, to check that a visitor is not a bot). Because there are no optional cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to support our website:
Website Services
- Google Fonts – to deliver the fonts used on our website. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser information. Requests to Google Fonts do not use cookies. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
- Cloudflare – to host and deliver our website and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare processes standard request data (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
- Email: Emails are retained for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and are deleted within 24 months of resolving the inquiry. We do not create user accounts on our website.
- Server Logs: Retained by Cloudflare in line with its own retention schedule
Unsolicited Personal Information
If we receive personal information that we did not actively solicit (for example, additional details included in a support email), we will assess whether we could have collected that information under APP 3. If the information is not required for our functions or activities, we will destroy or de-identify it as soon as practicable, unless we are required or authorised by law to retain it.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: All data in transit uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Access Controls: Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
- Secure Storage: All data stored with appropriate security measures
Australian Privacy Rights
If you are located in Australia or the APPs otherwise apply to you, you have the following rights:
