1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how EngSiteTools ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the SlopeCheck mobile application ("the App") for iOS. We have designed SlopeCheck with privacy in mind: the App measures slope angle entirely on your device and does not transmit camera imagery, measurements, or any personal information to us or any third party.

By downloading or using SlopeCheck, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. About the App

SlopeCheck is a free iOS utility. When you open the App it goes straight to a live camera view and uses your device's camera and LiDAR sensor (via Apple's ARKit framework) to measure the slope angle of the ground or surface in front of you. The angle is displayed on-screen in real time. There is no sign-up, login, or account.

SlopeCheck provides field estimates only and is not a substitute for certified surveying or engineering services.

3. Information We Collect

Information processed on your device only

When you use the App, the following data is processed locally on your iPhone or iPad and is not transmitted to us:

Camera and LiDAR sensor input used to measure the slope in real time
Device motion and AR tracking data used by ARKit for world tracking
The derived slope angle displayed on screen

This data exists only in your device's memory while the App is measuring. The current version of the App does not record video, save photos, or store measurements to persistent storage; leaving the camera view discards the live data.

Information we do not collect

The current version of SlopeCheck does not collect, store, or transmit:

Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
User accounts or login credentials (the App has no account system)
Location data
Photos, video, or camera imagery saved or sent anywhere
Analytics or usage telemetry
Advertising identifiers or tracking data
Measurements sent to our servers (we do not operate a backend for this App)

We do not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies. The App shows no ads.

4. Information Handled by Apple

SlopeCheck is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download the App, Apple handles your Apple Account information according to Apple's own privacy policy. We receive only aggregated, anonymised download reports from Apple and do not receive your name, email address, or payment details.

ARKit and other iOS frameworks used by the App run on your device under Apple's control. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles data on iOS.

5. Permissions

SlopeCheck requests the following device permission:

Camera — Required for ARKit and LiDAR measurement. The camera feed is used solely to measure the slope in real time and is not recorded, saved, or transmitted by the App.

The App does not request location, contacts, photo library, microphone, or other sensitive permissions in this version.

6. Children's Privacy

SlopeCheck is intended for general and professional use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App's camera may incidentally capture people or objects present during use; users are responsible for following applicable privacy and recording laws when operating the App.

7. Data Retention

Because we do not receive any data from the App, we do not retain any App-related information on our servers. On your device, camera input and measurements are held in memory only while the App is active and are discarded when you leave the camera view or close the App. iOS may temporarily cache standard app data as part of normal system operation; you can remove this by deleting the App.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Because the App does not collect personal information and has no user accounts, there is no account to delete and no personal data for us to access, correct, or export on your behalf.

You can:

Close the App at any time to stop measuring
Revoke the App's camera permission via iOS Settings (this will disable measurement)
Delete the App to remove any locally cached app data
Contact Apple regarding App Store matters under Apple's policies

9. Security

Because camera input and measurements stay on your device and are not transmitted to us, security of that data relies on the standard protections provided by iOS and your device settings (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, device encryption). We recommend keeping your device updated and protected with a passcode.

10. International Users

EngSiteTools is based in Australia. If you use the App from outside Australia, please note that the App processes data only on your device and does not transfer data internationally to us.

11. Product Disclaimers

Slope angles produced by SlopeCheck are estimates intended for informational and planning purposes only. Accuracy depends on device hardware, environmental conditions, lighting, surface characteristics, and how the device is held. The App is not a certified surveying or engineering tool. Users are responsible for complying with all applicable site safety requirements and local laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features such as saved measurements, in-app purchases, or cloud-based features. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App or on our support page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
