Privacy Policy for SiteArea
Last updated: 13 May 2026
Effective date: 13 May 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how SiteArea ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. SiteArea is developed and published by EngSiteTools.
SiteArea is built so that we do not operate a backend for the app: there is no EngSiteTools server API, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash-reporting service, and no advertising. Map display uses Apple’s MapKit only. The app does not read or request access to your device location.
Summary
SiteArea lets you place points on a map to outline a region and view an area calculation. We do not collect personal data on our servers because there is no SiteArea backend. We do not integrate third-party analytics, ad networks, or crash-reporting SDKs. The app does not use your GPS or other location services.
Information We Collect
None on EngSiteTools systems.
SiteArea does not send your map drawings, polygon vertices, area results, name, email, phone number, or other identifiers to EngSiteTools. Specifically:
- We do not require an account, login, or registration.
- We do not operate a SiteArea API or server-side application that receives app payloads from you.
- We do not collect analytics, product telemetry, or usage statistics through the app.
- We do not use third-party crash reporting (for example Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or similar) in SiteArea.
- We do not show ads and do not use advertising SDKs or advertising identifiers for the app.
- We do not read your precise or coarse location from Core Location; SiteArea does not request location permission for this purpose.
How the App Works
At a high level:
- You interact with a map powered by Apple’s MapKit (
MKMapView/ MapKit APIs). - You place and adjust points to define a polygon on the map.
- Area and related geometry are derived on your iPhone or iPad in the app.
- None of this geometry is transmitted to EngSiteTools; there is no server-side processing by us.
Location
SiteArea does not use your personal device location (for example GPS, Wi-Fi positioning, or cell-derived location) to center the map or to annotate measurements. We do not request standard iOS location permissions for SiteArea functionality as described in this policy.
Permissions
SiteArea is designed to minimize permissions. It does not rely on Core Location access for the features described here. If a future release requested an additional permission only for a clearly disclosed purpose, we would update this policy and the App Store listing before release.
MapKit and Apple
Map display, map tiles, and related services are provided by Apple through MapKit and the Maps stack on your device. When you are online, iOS may load map imagery and related data according to Apple’s own systems and privacy practices—that activity is not sent to EngSiteTools and is outside our control. For how Apple handles Maps data, see Apple’s privacy materials.
Networking and URLSession
SiteArea does not use URLSession (or any custom URLSessionConfiguration) to call EngSiteTools APIs or third-party analytics, advertising, authentication, or crash-reporting endpoints—because those integrations are not part of the app.
Network activity you may see while using maps is attributable to Apple’s MapKit / Maps services on the device (for example loading map tiles when online), not to a SiteArea-owned backend.
Data Storage
EngSiteTools does not receive or store SiteArea measurement data on our servers. Information you enter while using the app remains under your control on the device unless and until you choose to export or share it through other means outside this policy (for example using a future share feature handled by iOS). If on-device storage is used for your convenience (for example recalling a session), that storage stays local to your device and is not synced to EngSiteTools.
Third-Party Services and SDKs
SiteArea does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. Mapping uses Apple’s MapKit. There is no Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, Mixpanel, Amplitude, AdMob, or similar SDK in the app for the behaviors described in this policy.
Tracking
SiteArea does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for EngSiteTools’ purposes, and the app is not used to build a marketing profile from your measurements.
Advertising
SiteArea contains no advertising.
Children's Privacy
SiteArea does not knowingly collect personal information for EngSiteTools through the app as described in this policy. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar frameworks in respect of our own data collection—which is none for SiteArea on our systems.
Your Rights
Because EngSiteTools does not hold SiteArea usage data on our backend, there is typically no SiteArea-specific dataset for us to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict on our servers. Regional privacy laws still apply to personal data that a company holds; for anything else (for example general correspondence), contact us using the details below.
Encryption and Export Compliance
SiteArea does not use any non-exempt encryption (ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption is set to false).
Changes to This Policy
If the app’s functionality or data practices change in a way that affects this policy, we will update this document and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected in the next App Store release notes where appropriate.
