Privacy Policy for FastOCR
Last updated: 12 May 2026
Effective date: 11 May 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how FastOCR ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. FastOCR is developed and published by EngSiteTools.
We have designed FastOCR with privacy as a core principle: the app collects no personal data, performs no tracking, and sends nothing off your device.
Summary
FastOCR is a fully on-device optical character recognition (OCR) application. All text recognition happens locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's built-in frameworks. No data is transmitted to us, to EngSiteTools, or to any third party.
Information We Collect
None.
FastOCR does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data or user information. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier.
- We do not require an account, login, or registration.
- We do not collect device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or any unique IDs.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports.
- We do not use cookies or any similar tracking technology.
How the App Works
FastOCR's complete data flow is as follows:
- You point your device's camera at text you want to recognize.
- The image is captured using Apple's standard system components (
UIImagePickerControlleror VisionKit'sDataScannerViewController). - The captured image is held only in your device's memory (RAM) during your current session.
- Apple's on-device Vision framework (
VNRecognizeTextRequest) and VisionKit analyze the image locally and extract text. - The recognized text is displayed in the app.
- You may optionally copy the text to your clipboard or share it through the iOS share sheet.
- When you close the app, the image and recognized text are discarded from memory.
At no point is the image or recognized text sent to a server or saved to disk.
Permissions
FastOCR requests only one permission:
- Camera access (
NSCameraUsageDescription): Required to capture images of text for on-device recognition. The purpose string shown by iOS reads: "FastOCR uses the camera to capture text in your surroundings for on-device recognition."
FastOCR does not request access to:
- Your photo library
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Your microphone
- Push notifications
- Any other system permission
Data Storage
FastOCR does not store any data persistently. The app does not use UserDefaults, the Keychain, CoreData, SwiftData, or any form of file writing. Captured images are not saved to your Photos library or anywhere else on your device. Recognized text exists only in memory until you close the app or navigate away.
If you choose to copy recognized text to your clipboard or share it via the iOS share sheet, that action and any subsequent storage is handled by iOS and by the destination app you select — not by FastOCR.
Network Activity
FastOCR makes no network requests of any kind. The app contains no networking code (no URLSession, no URLRequest, no HTTP traffic). Your device's text recognition does not require an internet connection, and the app will not attempt to communicate with any remote server.
Third-Party Services and SDKs
FastOCR contains no third-party SDKs. The app uses only Apple's first-party system frameworks: SwiftUI, UIKit, Vision, and VisionKit. There is no Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, Mixpanel, Amplitude, AdMob, or any other analytics, advertising, or tracking SDK present in the app.
Tracking
FastOCR does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. Our App Store Connect privacy declaration reflects this: Data Collection: None. Tracking: No.
Advertising
FastOCR contains no advertising of any kind.
Children's Privacy
FastOCR does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. The app is safe to use by users of any age in this respect. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations by virtue of collecting no data at all.
Your Rights
Because FastOCR collects no personal data, there is no personal information for us to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict. Privacy rights frameworks such as the GDPR (EU), CCPA/CPRA (California), and the Australian Privacy Act apply only to data that is collected — and we collect none.
Encryption and Export Compliance
FastOCR does not use any non-exempt encryption (ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption is set to false).
Changes to This Policy
If the app's functionality changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this document and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be reflected in the next App Store release.
